Hello All,
Welcome to the FBA MPA season for the spring semester! Just like in the fall, over the next three weeks, there will be three different Florida Bandmasters Association music performance assessments. The first of these is this Friday at Escambia High School where several of our students will be assessed in the Solo & Ensemble MPA. Again, this is at ESCAMBIA HS not Gulf Breeze HS. Those students that signed up for this will need to find a ride wo EHS and perform at your allotted time. We will give you your schedule tomorrow. Remember, you must have the original of your solo or ensemble work for the judge. Jazz MPA is next week followed by Concert MPA the following week. The indoor guard and percussion groups are still going strong and getting better each week. If you have not seen them, you'll have a great opportunity this Saturday at Pace High School. Times are listed below and tickets are $10 for the day. All of these students have been working so hard and definitely deserve an audience! In between the indoor performances you'll want to make your way back to the MHS cafeteria for the mattress sale. Please get the word out about the Mattress Sale this Saturday from 10am-5pm. Students, remember all you have to get credit for any mattresses sold is give out the flyer with your name on it to the community. As long as the person that buys a mattress also gives that flyer to the salesman, you'll get your money to your account. It's that easy! There are plenty of these flyers in the box at the front of the band room if you have run out. Please like and spread the event on Facebook at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/events/823285534478290/ We will be posting a sign up for students to volunteer for certain shifts to get people's attention for this event including wearing the awesome mattress suit! We have had two honor band clinics over the past two weeks with some incredible performances. I applaud all of the students that performed at these clinics at Troy State and Southern Miss. You really represented MHS well and we are very proud of you. Please use what you learned at these clinics and spread that knowledge to everyone else. You can be a good influence on those that could use some extra musical encouragement. Finally, WE NEED FAIR SHARES!! We have A LOT of accounts that are behind in payments! At this point, you should only have $75 remaining on your account. Please login to charmsoffice and make sure you are up to date. Hello All,
The indoor season has kicked off with two wonderful performances by our winterguards yesterday at Jay High School. There is still much clean and many improvements to make, but they are off to a great start and I can't wait to see the progress they will make throughout the season. You can see the varsity winterguard in performance again this Saturday at Robertsdale HS at 6pm. Tickets are $10. The Black Gold Percussion Ensemble will debut their show at the Choctaw Indoor Competition. This week we will have individual band photos taken by Kay Brown Photography. Students will need to wear uniform tops for these pictures. Guard will wear your field uniforms. We would like to have all of these pictures done on Tuesday. We will have pictures taken on Wednesday only if we have students that were absent on Tuesday. If you did not get an order form, please click HERE to download a copy. All charms accounts should be up to date as of last week. Please look at your accounts and make sure that everything is up to date. We still have several folks that owe quite a bit of fair shares. Please start catching up on these. Like I said, we will have a few more fundraisers to help you out. This week, anyone who plays a school-owned instrument will has a $50 payment owed. This allows us to have these instruments cleaned and fixed each year. Please mark your calendars for a very important meeting this Tuesday at 6:30 in the band room. We will discuss the upcoming mattress fundraiser as well as next year's band trip cruise in March 2018. We have to get an early start on that trip because the ship will fill up very quickly and we want to make sure we can get rooms booked. That is all for now. I hope this week is an eventful week for everyone!
