I hope everyone enjoyed a well-deserved week off after 3 fantastic performances at the preview show and a fun and hot 2 weeks of band camp! I have finally uploaded all of these performances plus the section show-offs from the day before. Sorry for the delay as I was out of town for the entire week. You can watch all of these videos to your heart's delight at our YouTube channel MiltonHSBand. While I'm talking about band camp...WOW! What an amazing group of young adults we have in our band family! We were so proud of what you accomplished during those two weeks and really enjoyed watching you shine at the preview show. We could not have made it through those two weeks without the help of all of our parents that helped either at the medical tent or in the concession stand making the lunches and dinners each day. I also want to think you as well as the BPA for the wonderful dinner you prepared for everyone the night of the preview show. Your hard work is very much appreciated!
Now, to quote the movie The Ring, "Seven Days"......That's right, seven days till school starts....can you believe it? Before we get to school though, we have one busy week to get through.
I want to remind everyone about the meat sticking on Tuesday at 2pm-5pm. This is required for all students. Parents, this is a BPA incentive event so if you would like to fulfill a portion of that, please join us in the cafeteria on that day. We will announce the winners of the section wars by the end of rehearsal on Monday. You may continue to bring in the supplies up until the beginning of rehearsal on Monday at 6pm. That is the cutoff.
Please take note of a schedule change for Thursday. Milton High School will be hosting an openhouse campus wide from 5:30-7pm. This is a chance for you and your child to meet and greet their teachers and see where their classes will be. We want to give our students the opportunity to participate in this event and therefore have changed the rehearsal schedule to 7pm-9:30pm.
Finally, students, as you receive your schedules, please look very closely and make sure you have been added to one of the band classes!! We have already had just a few mistakes that have been addressed. Remember, you must be in one of the concert band classes, percussion class, or colorguard class to be a member of the marching band. The schedule of band classes is as follows:
1st Period - Colorguard
2nd Period - Percussion
3rd Period - Panther Band
4th Period - Jazz Ensemble
5th Period - Concert Band
6th Period - Symphonic Band
If you have been placed in the wrong class or you have not been placed in a band class, please contact your guidance counselor ASAP!!!! We can also help to let them know which class you were supposed to be in. Jazz students, please make sure you have Jazz Ensemble on your schedule as well as a separate band class if you are in both ensembles.
