This will be the last weekly update email until we return from Fall Break. Uniform Debut Performance - We are currently still planning to have a performance and debut the new uniforms on Wednesday. There is a possibility that we will have to postpone due to weather and late delivery of the uniforms. We will make this call as late as Tuesday. Please keep an eye on your email/Facebook/Remind Texts/Word of mouth for the announcement. The itinerary for that day is below. If we have to move the performance, we will look to do it on Wednesday, November 29th or Friday, December 1st. Again, we will let you know. Winterguard - Winterguard has begun as of last week. They will be having rehearsals every Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-9pm. These first few rehearsals are used as audition nights. Students must be in attendance in ordered to be considered for winterguard. Indoor Percussion - We will have an Indoor Percussion interest meeting this Thursday at 7pm in room 131. Any student interested in participating in the Black Gold Percussion Ensemble will need to be in attendance. Parents are asked to attend as well. Please see Chandler Sedlacek [email protected] for more info. MHSBPA - The MHSBPA monthly parent meeting is Tuesday November 14th at 7 pm in room 131. Important items to be discussed and voted on to include: - Update on all Bandtober events and the BPA Budget for the rest of the year. - The purchasing of the New drumline equipment, new items to be purchased for the indoor Colorguard, other instruments and equipment to also be purchased for students. - Christmas party at sweet seasons on December 8th, forming a Christmas party committee. Need parent involvement. - Discussing upcoming 5 day MLK event at Webers Skateworld in January, forming a committee. Need parents and students to volunteer. Milton Christmas Parade - The Milton Christmas Parade in Saturday, December 2nd. Mark your calendars. More info to come Pensacola Christmas Parade - The Pensacola Christmas parade is Saturday, December 9th. Again mark your calendars and more info to come. Christmas Concert - The Milton Christmas concert is Thursday, December 7th at 6pm. Section Tree Decorating - The section tree decorating will take place after Symphonic Band rehearsal on December 5th. Sections will compete against each other for the best looking trees. They will also win a trophy and prizes. Trees will be on display at the concert that Thursday. That is all for now. Congratulations on finishing another football season! We still have a few marching events left to end marching season. We will now start making the full transition to concert season. Playground Music Step-up Night - This Tuesday is the Playground Music instrument step-up night. This is for all wind players interested in purchasing or renting an upgraded version of your instrument. Students will need to sign-up for a one-on-one with the sales team from Playground. CLICK HERE for more info. Veteran's Day Parade - This Saturday, we will be celebrating all of our past, present, and future veterans with a parade. The itinerary is below. We will hand out plumes at the band hall and collect at my (Mr. Schultz's) truck at the end of the parade. The parade route begins at the anchor at MHS, goes south on Stewart Street, left down Berryhill Road, right on Willing Street in downtown Milton, and ends at Veteran's Memorial. Students will need to have a ride from Veteran's Memorial at the end of the parade. Remember to bring instruments back on Monday. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony after the parade put on by the VA. All-State - A huge congratulations to Josiah Hall s for making the All-State Band and Jayden Brothers for making the All-State Chorus!! They will be representing Milton High School and Santa Rosa County in January at the FMEA Convention. Concert Season - As we move to full-on concert season, we will be taking our big marching ensemble and splitting that into multiple smaller ensembles. Each of these ensembles will have their own afterschool rehearsals. Students are required to attend all rehearsals and performances associated with their ensemble. Make sure you look through the calendar carefully to see when these rehearsals and performances will take place. All-County Auditions - This Thursday, the high school all-county auditions will take place at Milton High School. A schedule will be posted by Monday. Students, WE NEED YOUR HELP with proctoring rooms that evening. Sign-ups have been posted on the locker room door. Students can receive volunteer hours for this. Please Please Please help us out. These auditions run smoothly only because of the students that help. Again, students can receive volunteer hours for these. Sweet Seasons - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of the parents and students that volunteered to work the BPA concessions at Sweet Seasons Farm over the past month! Because of you, we are able to supply our students with the best equipment possible. New Uniform Debut - We have scheduled a new uniform debut performance for Wednesday, November 15th at 5:30 in the football stadium. Please make plans to attend. This is for ALL MHS Band students, not just marching band. Wrapping Paper - We are in need of wrapping paper of any kind. We also need lots of scotch tape. Homecoming Week - HAPPY HOMECOMING. This week there are lots of events and dress-up days to enjoy each day. I encourage everyone to take part and get into the spirit of homecoming. The MB&G will be playing a huge part as always, especially the last three days this week. Here is a rundown of the uniforms for the week: Wed - Summer Uniform for Escapades Thurs - Bring formal uniform to school for pep rally, change during 5th period Fri - Summer Uniform for Parade, Formal Uniform for game. TR Jackson Parade - Tuesday is the TR Jackson Storybook parade. After much thought, we will only be taking the leadership team to this because of the VERY tight quarters at the school. We usually only take the leadership team for this parade anyway. There will not be enough room to march through the hallways at TR Jackson if the whole band is there. Leadership, please see itinerary below. Escapades - This Wednesday is Escapades. This is the after school pep rally in the gym. All of the class skits will be performed and the HC court will be introduced. Parents are invited to come out and watch. The itinerary is below. Call time is 5:30 in summer uniform. Pep Rally Thursday - Just a note that we will be in full uniform minus helmets for the pep rally on Thursday. Please make sure you bring your uniform to school on that day. You may leave it on the hangers afterwards for the game on Friday. HC Parade - We will meet at 9am in the band room for the HC parade then bus to King MS in rotation on 2 buses. The parade will kickoff around 10:30. Students will be dismissed at the end. Buses will run at Noon. See itinerary below. HOME Game vs Godby HS - This Friday is our final game of the season. See itinerary below. If we receive our new uniforms this week, we may adjust the call time. Take note that we will be performing our halftime show at POST GAME before we march back to the band room. We will also be giving a special performance for the students of Hobbs MS at the practice field before the game. We will also be inviting all of our Band Alumni to join us in the stands at the 2nd half of the game. BPA Concessions at Game - The BPA needs help with the concessions for the game. This is your last chance to work a game and earn the BPA incentive. Please CLICK HERE to sign-up. New Uniforms - We still have an estimated delivery of this week for our uniforms. We are hoping to be able to have these for the game this Friday. If we do indeed receive them, we may be adjusting the call time on Friday to 4:30 instead of 5:30. What: Playground Music Instrument Step-up Night When: Tuesday, November 7th 4pm-7pm Where: MHS Band Hall Who: All MHS Band Wind Players We will be hosting a Step-up instrument night at the band room on Tuesday, November 7th 4pm-7pm. This is for all wind players in the MHS Band that wish to purchase or rent a more advanced level of your current instrument. Playground Music will be offering deals on Piccolos, Flutes, Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Alto Saxes, Tenor Saxes, Bari Saxes, Trumpets, French Horns, Trombones, Bass Trombones, Euphoniums, and Tubas. If you are still playing on your middle school instrument or wish to try a more advanced instrument, come on out. Instruments will be available to try before you by/rent on October 31st. And just like that, Bandtober is over! Congratulations to everyone for making it through the busiest time of the marching band season. You guys are rock stars..Literally! Our students were the talk of the town at Daphne HS and everywhere else we went. We are so proud of you all! Thank you to everyone for all that you did to make the past three weeks and beyond a success. Daphne - Congratulations to our students for their superior performance at Daphne HS on Saturday. Our students earned straight superiors for the third weekend in a row. It was a fun day with an amazing show run....and Buccees :-) Dress-up Rehearsal - This Thursday, is our dress-up rehearsal for marching band. You can wear anything you wish as long as you can play and march an it is school appropriate. Parents are invited to watch as well if you wish. It is always a blast! Year Medallion Ceremony - Immediately after the rehearsal, we will have our annual year medallion ceremony. This is a celebration of all of our marching band students for completing the competition portion of marching season. Each student will receive a medallion symbolizing this year. Parents are also invited to attend. Winterguard Interest Meeting - All students interested in participating in the MHS winterguard need to make plans to attend the interest meeting this Thursday at 6:30. Parents are asked to attend as well. Rhodes ES Storybook Parade - This Friday is the Rhodes ES Storybook Parade. See the itinerary below. Students may dress up in costumes for this if you wish. WE will walk to and from Rhodes. Homecoming Events - Homecoming is just one week away. Please be aware that the marching band plays one of the biggest rolls during that week with Escapades on Wednesday, Pep Rally and short rehearsal on Thursday, and parade and game on Friday. Make sure you are looking ahead at all of these. New Uniform Delivery - The uniform company has estimated that our uniforms will be delivered on October 30. My goal is to get all winds and percussion into their new uniforms for the homecoming game. If this delivery date is accurate, we will adjust the call time on Friday evening to get the uniforms distributed. This is just a heads up. More info to come. Sweet Season BPA Concessions Sales - The BPA will is selling concessions at Sweet Seasons farms in North Milton. This is a family friendly fun event occurring each weekend until the beginning of November. We need your help with to make these days successful. Parents and students may sign-up.
