All I can say is WOW to all of our students who performed in the Spring Concert Showcase!! If you missed this concert, you really missed out on amazing performances! The Mighty Black & Gold really showed of their talents extraordinarily this past Friday. You can watch the concert on our YouTube page HERE. The next big event is the 8th Grade Band Day this Tuesday. Please take note of the itinerary below. This is required by all students as they will all be in performance once again! We will be wearing our concert black uniforms like we wore for the spring concert. Make sure you bring a change of clothes as we will be going outside after we perform. Please help us get the word out to all of the 8th graders who would like to be in band next year. We will also be starting up the leadership interviews on Wednesday and Thursday during classes. Please plan accordingly as we are limited to class time for these interviews. We will do these immediately after school as well for those that will be testing during school. Finally, Guard and Percussion interest camps will be starting back up this week. All of those that are interested in joining either of these sections are encouraged to attend. Times are below. This week is the final big performance of the 2018-19 Mighty Black & Gold Band! Please come out this Friday at 6:30 in the MHS Auditorium to see and hear all of our ensembles showoff their talents! We will begin in the auditorium with performances by the Panther Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band. Then we'll move to the gym for performances by the Black Gold Percussion Ensemble and the Winterguard. YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS CONCERT!!! These students deserve your attendance and support! You'll see next week, we will have several items. For those looking to audition for drum major, please make sure you attend the drum major audition camp on Monday. HAPPY EASTER I want to invite everyone out to the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band concert this Thursday at the Imogene Theater at 6:30pm. Tickets are $5 at the door and will be well worth it! We have lots of fun music in store for all and concessions will be available as well! We are still in desperate need of fair shares to be paid. Thank you so much to all of you who are up to date and have done your part. As of today, we are still $30,000 in unpaid fair shares. All fair shares should be paid in full by the spring concert next week! If you would like to make an online payment, just CLICK HERE and follow the instructions. Speaking of the spring concert, the entire Mighty Black & Gold band family will be on display next Friday, May 3rd at 6:30pm in the MHS Auditorium and Gym. This is a FREE concert that will showcase ALL of our ensembles including the indoor groups and marching band. You do not want to miss this concert! Invite everyone you know to come enjoy a night of awesome music and talent from our wonderful students. I have attached our colorguard interest flier for everyone. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the colorguard this year, please come out to the interest camps on May 7th, 8th, and 9th. Please hand this flier out to everyone. THANK YOU to everyone that volunteered their time to work at the Beats and Eats Music Festival Saturday!! It was a great day full of fun for all. Keith White, the BPA treasurer, is working on the final recap of sales and expenses for the day and will report on that as soon as we get it. I want to personally thank all of those who served on the committee that put this event together. Many many many hour were put into planning for the festival leading up to that day and everything you did is very much appreciated!! We are still in desperate need for everyone to pay your fair shares in full!!! Everything in charms is up to date as of today unless it was placed in the money box on Friday. Guys, we are $40,000 in the whole because of unpaid fair shares and are in danger of having to cancel certain future events and possible performances if this is not brought back in the good. I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who is up to date on your fair shares!! You have done your part financially. WE NEED ALL FAIR SHARES UP TO DATE BEFORE THE END OF SCHOOL!! This will NOT leave you. Please look at your statements on charms office to see where you stand financially. This week, will begin the first event in preparation for next year with the first percussion interest camp on Thursday. There will be four of these spread of the course of the month. If you are interested in marching percussion next season, please attend these camps. We are still in the process of scheduling the guard interest camps. Finally, the next event for the Mighty Black & Gold is the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band performance at the Imogene Theater on Thursday, April 25th at 6:30. Okay the next big event hosted by the Mighty Black & Gold is here and we need your help! The Black & Gold Beats and Eats Music Festival is this Saturday!! Parents, there are a ton of spots still open for volunteers! All you have to do is CLICK HERE and sign-up. I gotta say, when I posted the student sign-up in the band hall, almost all of the slots were filled on that day! Let your kids know you support them by helping out at this festival. Remember, you are a member of the BPA simply by having a child in the band. It is time to step it up parents. The students are already doing their part!! We will be going over all the information for the festival at the monthly BPA meeting this Tuesday at 7pm. We will also be holding elections for the BPA board for next year at the Tuesday meeting. PLEASE PAY ALL FAIR SHARES IN NOW!!!!!!!! Welcome back from Spring Break! It is so good to be back with everyone once again. I hope you enjoyed your rest and are ready to go for the remainder of the year. We are in the home stretch! But, as we all know, that doesn't mean things are gonna slow down, in fact it is the exact opposite. As Samuel L. Jackson said in Jurassic Park, "Hold on to your butts" With us being so close to the end of the year, it is imperative that all fair shares are paid in full!! SEVERAL of you are behind and owe quite a bit of your fair shares. Currently, the band is $43,000 in the negative in regards to fair shares. This includes the indoor groups as well. If this is not paid, we will have to deny the continuation of certain things. This WILL NOT simply go away. PLEASE PAY ALL FAIR SHARES IN NOW!!!!!!!! The indoor groups finished the season strong this past Saturday at the GCGPC Circuit Championship with the winterguard earning 5th out 12 and the percussion earning 3rd out of 4. Great job to these students! The Beats and Eats Music Festival is in 2 weeks and WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! Parents, there are PLENTY of areas that we need your help in volunteering! THIS EVENT CANNOT HAPPEN WITHOUT YOU!! This is a Band Parent Association event and all of you are part of this with your child being in the band.
